Thallus crustose, continuous or becoming rimose, areolate and rugulose with age, white, rarely pale grey, to 1 cm wide, 0.2–0.3 mm thick. Areolae angular to irregular, 0.1–0.3 mm wide, plane and smooth to weakly convex, lacking soredia. Isidia common, laminal, subglobose to cylindrical, not or sparingly branched, 0.05–0.50 mm tall, 0.10–0.15 mm thick. Prothallus not apparent. Apothecia common, scattered, at first innate, then adnate and ultimately emergent, not constricted at the base, 0.5–1.2 mm wide; disc plane or ±undulate, ±round to subirregular, glossy black, epruinose; thalline exciple very irregular, usually reduced or absent; proper exciple poorly defined, 50–100 µm thick. Epihymenium violet-black. Hymenium reddish purple, 50–70 µm thick. Hypothecium pale yellow-brown, 50–100 µm thick. Ascospores simple, ellipsoidal, thick-walled, 7–11 × 5.0–6.5 µm. Conidia filiform, straight, 10–15 × 1.0–1.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ yellow, C–, KC–, P– or P+ pale yellow; medulla K–, C–, K–, P–, UV–; containing atranorin (major). |

This rare, endemic, corticolous species is known only from the type locality in south-eastern N.S.W. | ||
