| Thallus crustose, continuous or becoming rimose, areolate and rugulose with age, white to grey-white, to 10 cm wide, 0.3–0.5 mm thick. Areolae angular to irregular, 0.5–1.5 mm wide, plane and smooth to weakly convex, lacking isidia and soredia. Prothallus not apparent. Apothecia common, scattered, at first innate, then adnate and ultimately emergent, not constricted at the base, 0.2–0.8 mm wide; disc plane or ±undulate, ±round, dull black, epruinose; thalline exciple very irregular, thick in places, but reduced or absent with age; proper exciple pale brown, 50–110 µm thick. Epihymenium dark violet-brown. Hymenium violet to violet-brown, 50–60 µm thick. Hypothecium brown to violet-brown, 90–110 µm thick. Ascospores simple, ovoid to subglobose, 6.5–12.0 × 6–9 µm. Conidia filiform, straight, 10–15 × 1.0–1.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Cortex K+ yellow, C–, KC–, P– or P+ pale yellow; medulla K–, C–, K–, P–, UV–; containing atranorin (major). |

| Known only from rocks at the type locality in hinterland forest in north-eastern Qld. There are no recent collections of this very rare species. | ||
