Thallus forming small round or irregular patches, pale greyish green, ±smooth, matt; prothallus not apparent. Algae Phycopeltis; cells subglobose, angular-rounded or shortly rectangular, not forming radiating plates. Perithecia superficial, hemispherical, 0.20.35 mm diam. (0.40.6 mm diam. including setae), black; setae (10) 20 (30), stiff, usually horizontal or oblique or slightly decurved, narrowly to broadly acute, black with whitish sometimes hair-like tips, at maturity contiguous or ±fused laterally to form a subapical plate with only the distal halves or tips free. Involucrellum brown-black in thin section, contiguous with the exciple except near the base where they diverge. Exciple 1015 µm thick, pale to medium greenish brown. Asci narrowly to broadly obclavate, 80110 × 1722 µm. Ascospores fusiform to narrowly oblong, (7) 9 (11)-septate, 3355 × 58 µm; perispore usually 12 µm thick at maturity. Pycnidia not seen. | ||
Known from one locality in rainforest in north-eastern Qld. Also in South America (Ecuador and Brazil) and West Africa (Ivory Coast). Foliicolous. | ||
