Thallus forming small round or irregular patches, greenish grey to medium green, smooth, matt; prothallus not apparent. Algae Phycopeltis; cells subglobose, angular-rounded or shortly rectangular, not forming radiating plates. Perithecia superficial, hemispherical to ±globose, 0.1–0.2 mm diam., black; setae 5–10 (–12), soft, usually decurved, narrowly acute or bristle-like, whitish or black with white distal halves or tips (not in Australia). Involucrellum purple-black or brown-black in thin section, contiguous with the exciple. Exciple c. 10 µm thick, brown-black. Asci narrowly obclavate, 70–90 × 8–11 µm. Ascospores fusiform to narrowly oblong, 7-septate, 25–35 × 4–6 µm; perispore not apparent. Pycnidia not seen. | ||
An uncommon species collected from rainforest in eastern Qld and in south-eastern N.S.W. Mainly Palaeotropical and Pacific, its range includes northern New Zealand. Foliicolous. | ||
