Inner Garden

An experience in colour, texture and sound with fibre basketry by Joan Hogben, hand dyed and painted clothing by Jenny Hogben, electronic sound by chalkwhitehands (Andrew Lord) and soft sculpture designed by Austin Lord. All work inspired by Australian native plants, birds, insects and mammals with a focus on the beautiful Botanic Gardens.

Bush Magic: Bilby stories

Get ready for Easter with Bilby stories in the Gardens.

When: Friday 6 April | Storytime is on the first Friday each month
Time: 10 – 11 am
Where: Follow the signs from the Cafe or check in at the Visitor Centre for details on the day
Cost: $2 per child | Suitable for pre-schoolers
Bookings: Not required

twilight tourTwilight: A Family Adventure

Unlock the Garden gates for an exclusive night adventure! Discover a magically lit Rainforest Gully and experience the sounds, smells and feels of the Gardens at night.  Search for creepy crawlies on the forest floor, shine a light into the tree tops and spy for nocturnal wildlife with our skilled guides. Great for families!

When: Fridays 2, 9 March & Saturdays 3, 10 March
Time: 7:30 - 8:30 pm | Gates will be open from 7:00 - 7:30pm.
Cost: $10 per person | Bookings essential

Australian native bonsai: Tristaniopsis laurina

Australian Native Plant Sale

Presented by the Australian Native Plant Society

Find the best range of many local species, suitable for Canberra's climate and soils, ideal for new or established gardens. Be early for best selection and bring a bag or box for your purchases.

When: Saturday, 17 March
Time: 8.30 am - 2:00 pm or until sold out
Where: Southern car park, Australian National Botanic Gardens
Cost: $4.00 - $7.00 each

 


Australian native bonsai: Tristaniopsis laurina

9th National Exhibition of Australian Native Plants as Bonsai and Symposium

An exhibition of Australian plants styled as living sculptures using the ancient art form of bonsai, and symposium on Styling Inspired by Australian Plants.

When: 17 and 18 March
Time: 9:00am - 4:30pm

Botanical Art Workshops

Develop your art skills through this series of workshops with some of Australia's expert botanical artists. Suitable for beginners and more experienced artists. Presented by the Canberra Institute of Botanic Art.
